Why Make A Prototype Before Going To The Manufacturer?
While manufacturers would also offer sample making, what they offer is usually a production sample, meaning that its purpose is for the factory to understand how to produce it efficiently in a large quantity. If your goal is to visualise the bag and expect design changes after the sample is made, a manufacturer may not be able to help you.
This is why we offer prototype and sample making for design purposes. After creating the tech pack, we would create a prototype to check feasibility, optimise construction and provide you an opportunity to make design changes. A full sample using your materials will also help set a high quality standard for your manufacturer to meet.
Our Approach
We usually adopt a staged approach for our prototypes and samples. The goal is to create a prototype in the quickest and most budget-friendly way for you.
Generally this process involves the following steps:
- A partial, mini test if we have concerns about a particular part of the construction.
- A muslin or paper prototype to test the initial pattern.
- Pattern corrections.
- First sample using the correct fabric.
- Additional rounds of samples as needed.
