Raffia & Woven Bags

Weaving has become one of our niched-down technical areas since the launch of our own brand, MOYA London. The techniques that we are particular good at include crochet, machine knitting and leather weaving, as well as a number of ways to combine woven materials with leather or other accessories. 

We can work with you in a number of ways

Our Process

Different from leather or fabric bags, woven styles often require a more hands-on approach during design. This can include creating mini samples and technique exploration alongside sketching and material selection. We offer fully customised processes on a case-by-case basis. Below is a high level guide.

CONCEPT & GOAL ALIGNMENT

We usually kick off our project with a thorough understanding of the product vision, the brand's story and any existing models or mood board. 

DESIGN EXPLORATION

This step aims at tackling the most important feature or part of your product, whether that involves the technique, the material or the silhouette. We would then adopt the corresponding method to help you pin down on a specific design direction, e.g. making mini samples or creating rough sketches.

SAMPLE MAKING

Different from leather/fabric bags, woven bags often requires a sample or prototype as a part of the design process.

TECH PACK DEVELOPMENT

Based on the samples, we then create technical drawings and develop the full tech pack, providing the material, techniques, constructions, the sample and lots of reference images.
